We’re absolutely buzzing that EDNA has been named a finalist in the 39th Dulux Colour Awards for 2025! This prestigious award is the ultimate celebration of bold and beautiful colour application across interior and exterior design in Australia and New Zealand. Out of 481 entries, only 88 finalists were chosen - and we’re beyond proud to be among them!
Our Taupō store was brought to life in collaboration with the talented team at Kanat Studio, who helped transform our vision into a truly immersive experience. The project is a finalist in a field filled with inspiring commercial spaces - work places and retail, with winners to be revealed at the end of May during a gala event at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne.
A Thread That Connects Everything
Our design concept, lovingly titled ‘Thread’, is more than a theme - it’s the story of EDNA. It symbolises the interconnection between fashion, community, culture. It’s also a nod to our name - EDNA (Evolving DNA). From the layout to the custom design elements, the idea of connection is stitched into every detail of the space.
Whether it’s the way customers move through the store or how colours speak to emotion, the space was created to feel alive with creativity, individuality and intention.
Colour That Speaks Our Language
We wanted the store to feel bold and warm - just like our community. The colour palette strikes a careful balance: soft, uplifting hues form a welcoming base, while vibrant accents spark energy and curiosity. Above, a dramatic green-yellow ceiling meets flowing peach-toned fabric, representing woven threads drifting across the space.

Design Details That Do the Talking
What really brings the ‘Thread’ concept to life are the details - rope pulley displays that hint at movement and creativity, sculpted stands that act like functional art and a neon ‘DNA’ LED strip weaving through the store, playful and unpredictable. Then there’s the glowing feature counter, made from Cleanstone (a recycled material), which quietly champions our sustainability values, and walls clad in SaveBoard (made from upcycled juice and milk cartons). Bold pops of colour across the fixed wall displays and racks inject even more energy into the space - encouraging customers to explore, play and express themselves in an environment as vibrant as the brand itself.
More Than a Store
We designed EDNA to feel like more than a store. It’s a place where threads of fashion, culture and community come together in one vibrant tapestry. This isn’t just a retail space - it’s a home for self-expression and creativity.
We’re so honoured to be recognised alongside some of Australasia’s most inspiring spaces. A massive thank you to Kanat Studio for helping us bring EDNA’s world to life in colour.
